The National Institute of Technology Warangal (NIT Warangal or NITW) is a public technological university. The foundation stone for this institute was laid by then-Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru in 1959. The institute was renamed the National Institute of Technology, Warangal in 2002.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidate must have secured at least 75 per cent aggregate (65 per cent for SC/ST) in Class 12 from a recognised board of education. Candidates in the top 20 percentile in Class 12 are also eligible to apply.

Facilities Available

  • State Bank of India has two ATMs - one located in the bank premises and the other near the Sports Stadium.
  • The Institute has excellent residential facilities for all the students admitted to the various courses.
  • There are three Institute Food Courts which are running on contract basis known as “IFC A, IFC B, IFC C,” for the men’s hostels and “Priyadharshini Mess” for Ladies in the Ladies hostel premises.
  • Central Library has around 1,79,797 books, back volumes, technical pamphlets, standards, CD-ROMs, Video Cassettes, e-books etc.

College Pros

  • Laundry Shop, Hair Cutting Saloon and Xerox Shop are also present inside the campus of NIT-W.
  • Placement Scenario is excellent.
  • The auditorium and infrastructure are also quite good.
  • There is no restriction in the hostel even at the campus. You can chill out at night.
  • The clubs and societies are very active.
  • Hostels have TV/Common room, Gym, Garden, Washing machines, Badminton Court, TT room, Cycle Stand, etc.

College Cons

  • Hostel Mess Food taste is just okay, nothing extraordinary.
  • NITW has been lacking in this issue to provide a good internet to students. Chief warden won't allow you to bring personal router.
  • Teachers are not helpful up to the mark, but some teachers are very good. It depends on the individual faculty member. Teaching quality is not up to the mark.

FAQ

The CSE branch is best known for its placement records and bagging the highest package. In the NIT Warangal placements 2022 drive, CSE recorded 100% placements with the highest package of Rs 62.50 LPA.

There are twenty hostel blocks (halls of residence) for men and two for women.

There are two Government non-vegetarian messes in the men’s hostels.

The Institute has one shopping center which caters to the needs of the students and residents.

Eateries have been opened at strategic locations all around the campus including inside the hostel blocks. These include shops such as Cofee Day Express, Nescafe, Bru, and Amul, and remain open for more than 10 hours.
