The National Institute of Technology Sikkim (NIT Sikkim or NIT SKM) is a public engineering and research institution. It is an autonomous institute and functioning under the aegis of the Ministry of Education (Shiksha Mantrayala), Government of India. Currently, it is being operated from a temporary campus at the Barfung Block, Ravangla, Sub Division of South Sikkim.

Eligibility Criteria

    • Candidate must have secured at least 75 per cent aggregate (65 per cent for SC/ST) in Class 12 from a recognised board of education. Candidates in the top 20 percentile in Class 12 are also eligible to apply.

    • Firstly you have to give JEE (Main) exam.
    • Then, admissions are done through JoSAA Counselling and CSAB Special Round on the basis of JEE(Main) Exam ranklist.

Facilities Available

  • Every hostel has the facilities of Table Tennis, Carom board, Chess boards. In addition, there are number of well-maintained fields where student can play football, Volleyball, Kho-Kho, and Cricket.
  • Well-equipped gymnasium is there for the boys inside the campus where all the modern gymnasium equipments are housed. A separate gymnasium is also maintained in parallel to cater the needs of the girl students of the institute.
  • The institute has residential facilities for all students, even though the institute is running on temporary campus. Both boys and girls have been provided separate accommodation facility in different hostels.
  • The Emergency and primary health care services are offered by the Institute round the clock on all the days to the students, employees, and other in-campus residents in its medical unit that is located within the campus, amidst the residential zone and the academic zone.
  • A well maintained indoor badminton court is also there inside campus.
  • The institute has a central library which caters to all the academic needs of students. The library also subscribes to a number of scientific journals and magazines.

FAQ

Candidates need to clear the IIT JAM exam followed by CCMN counseling. The remaining seats are filled based on Institute Admission Test (IAT).

For boys, There are a total of ten (10) boys' hostel buildings in NIT Sikkim. Six of the 10 buildings are within the campus while the remaining four are outside. For girls, There are 3 separate hostels for girls. All the girl’s hostel rooms have attached bathrooms and toilets.
