Two shopping centers on the campus include students’ and employees’ Cooperative Societies, a bakery, a vegetable shop, a cloth shop, tailoring, a saloon, a beauty parlor, a laundry, a printing press, and a provisional store, among others.
There are 12 Hostel blocks for boys, and 5 hostel blocks for girls with power backup. The Institute has an International Hostel too. The majority of students (4500+) stay in hostels.
Two canteens and four cafeterias are available for the students of NITK.
The best branch in terms of placement record is IT. The other branches such as CSE and ECE also have good placement records at NITK Surathkal.
